Toledo Menu - Know Before You Go

We had my Dad’s 90th birthday party at the Black Pearl. We had about 40 people in attendance and they handled the party very professionally. Everyone’s food was hot and very good. Would highly recommend for a big party.

We saw a little dog sitting in a highchair while we were dining a couple weeks ago.  Are dogs actually allowed to do this?

We have eaten there many times and have always had a wonderful experience.  The food is good and they are very busy, especially before a performance at the Stranahan.  Must make reservations and allow plenty of time for your dinner.  This is not a place to rush, but a relaxing dinner.  Wait staff were very courteous.  We go back often.

We ordered a take out ordered and was greeted at the door and told to go to the bar to pick up the take out.  Sat there for 10 minutes wasn’t, finally was told it would be up shortly and then wasn’t offered anything to drink.  Next payed and left.  The yellow fin tuna was dry and almost cooked all the way through when the menu said “sushi grade” also no lemons.  The veggie medley was only zucchini and a few tomatoes.  Also gave us the wrong salad dressing.  The sword fish sandwich was also over cooked and the bun was soggy.  Will not be returning.

I have dined here several times and had nothing but wonderful experiences.  Then again I am easy to please.  The food is not out of this world but I enjoyed it and the wait staff was very helpful and pleasant.  I am just scheduling my third dinner party for work here.  We always have a blast and the wait staff are nothing but awesome and fun.

I also had fruit flies looming over my table. The waiter was weird, did not introduce himself and simply began our lunch by whispering “can I get you something to drink?”. The entire experience was odd and I will not be returning. The server did not offer to answer any questions, he just asked, “ready?”. My companion ordered the prime rib sandwich and I ordered the perch dinner. The salad greens were brown. Finally when dinners arrived, my guest stared at his plate with an astonished gaze. The “prime rib sandwich” was a piece of luke warm, charred prime rib on one piece of a piece of slice rye bread. I am assuming its a “special” because they had so much prime rib laying around from the night before, they just reserve the leftovers the next day. The perch was greasy and fishy tasting. The menu explains that the establishment would like you to have a unique dining experience, just like a black pearl, well if by unique you mean awful food, awful service, awful environment surrounded by swarms of fruit flies, they definitely   hit the nail on the head. Yuck, don’t waste your money!

Not impressed. Hostess acted as if we were imposing to get a table…The waiter brought our dinner, but forgot the silverware, so we sat for awhile.  Eventually had to ask another wait staff member for the silverware.  The napkins came a little later. The steak was tough and a fruit fly loomed over my salad.  Not returning anytime soon.
